POSITION: Senior IT Project Manager – Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

LOCATION: Remote

Type: Long Term Contract

Overview

The Senior IT Project Manager (M&A) will lead complex, cross‐functional technology initiatives that support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational integrations. This role requires a seasoned project leader with deep experience managing IT workstreams during M&A events, including due diligence, integration planning, execution, and post‐close stabilization. The ideal candidate brings strong communication, executive presence, and the ability to drive clarity and alignment across business, IT, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

M&A Program Leadership

  • Lead end‐to‐end IT project management for M&A initiatives, including due diligence, Day 1 readiness, integration planning, and post‐close execution.
  • Assess technology environments, risks, dependencies, and integration requirements across infrastructure, applications, data, security, and business systems.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations for all IT M&A workstreams.

Cross‐Functional Coordination

  • Partner closely with Business, Finance, HR, Legal, Operations, and external advisors to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
  • Coordinate with technical SMEs across infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, ERP, CRM, and enterprise applications.
  • Facilitate decision‐making, issue resolution, and risk mitigation across multiple stakeholder groups.

Governance & Communication

  • Provide clear, concise executive‐level reporting, including status updates, risk assessments, and integration progress.
  • Establish governance structures, steering committees, and communication frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and third‐party integration partners.

Execution Excellence

  • Drive disciplined project delivery using PMI, Agile, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data‐governance requirements during integration.
  • Oversee cutover planning, testing, change management, and operational readiness for Day 1 and beyond.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8–12+ years of IT Project Management experience, with at least 3–5 years focused on M&A initiatives.
  • Proven success leading complex IT integrations, carve‐outs, or divestitures.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS), infrastructure, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive‐level presentation skills.
  • Experience managing cross‐functional teams and external vendors.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‐solving abilities.

Preferred

  • PMP, PgMP, or Agile certification.
  • Experience in regulated industries (utilities, healthcare, financial services).
  • Background working with global teams or multi‐entity organizations.
  • Familiarity with tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.

Personal Attributes

  • Highly organized, detail‐oriented, and proactive.
  • Comfortable operating in fast‐paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Business‐minded, with the ability to translate technical details into executive‐friendly insights.
