KBR is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Accounting Manager to support a major business unit within the Mission Technology Solutions (MTS) segment. Reporting directly to the Segment Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) with a matrix line to Business Operations Finance, this role is responsible for driving financial integrity, operational excellence, and strategic value across the business unit. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and U.S. government contracting, demonstrates strong ownership, and thrives in a globally matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the custodian of BU financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, KBR policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, coordinating cross-functionally with FP&A, Project Planning & Control (PP&C), and Controller teams
  • Oversee general ledger activities, including account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries, ensuring accurate balance sheet management, proper period recognition, and supporting documentation
  • Partner with FP&A and PP&C to review management reporting, perform variance analysis, and align budgets and forecasts with accounting positions and business performance
  • Manage receivables, payables, and overall working capital in coordination with Business Operations Finance to optimize cash flow
  • Prepare and review BU financial statements and lead periodic financial reviews with Segment CAO and Corporate Accounting
  • Evaluate, document, and resolve technical and judgmental accounting matters in collaboration with Business Operations Finance, Technical Accounting, and the Segment CAO
  • Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and SOX controls, including oversight of Revenue Recognition Evaluation Templates and supporting documentation
  • Oversee accounting for complex areas including subcontractor accruals, joint ventures, leases, reserves (unallowable costs, legal, claims), and backlog/RPO reporting, ensuring proper documentation and escalation of key judgments
  • Lead the development and maintenance of internal controls in partnership with the Segment SOX team, ensuring compliance with all financial process and documentation requirements
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS) and partner with Government Compliance on indirect rate impacts and revenue recognition considerations
  • Support business operations through involvement in bid and proposal activities, providing technical accounting guidance and cash flow modeling
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Tax, and Audit teams to ensure effective processes, manage foreign currency and tax matters, and support internal, external, and government audits

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 7+ years of accounting experience in a senior accounting role with a focus on operational accounting including 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
  • CPA or CFA preferred but not required

Financial Expertise:

  • Experience in a government contracting environment with working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and government contract accounting, including familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and CAS requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools such as Costpoint and Cognos, with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities
  • Experience operating in a publicly traded company environment with strong understanding of SOX controls and public reporting standards
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach, taking initiative to research complex issues, develop solutions, and drive more efficient and accurate results
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional projects within a global matrix organization
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage senior and executive management
  • Comfortable synthesizing complex financial information into concise, actionable insights for leadership
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across Finance, Operations, and Corporate teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to travel to other KBR offices within the United States as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle FCCS application
