Hybrid work schedule - 2 days onsite per week
Salary: $135,000 - $175,000, DOE

We’re partnering with a leading mechanical services firm seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineering (PE) license to guide complex HVAC and mechanical infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on diagnosing system issues, designing long‑term solutions, and elevating the performance of existing buildings.
Role Overview
This position centers on advanced HVAC system design, strategic infrastructure planning, and technical leadership across a wide range of commercial retrofit environments. Rather than defaulting to simple equipment replacement, you’ll evaluate entire building systems, identify root‑cause issues, and develop engineered solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & System Evaluation
- Perform comprehensive assessments of existing mechanical and MEP systems, including on‑site verification and performance analysis.
- Lead detailed heating and cooling load calculations to ensure equipment is properly sized and aligned with building needs.
- Develop complete HVAC system designs—ductwork, piping, and mechanical layouts—with a focus on maintainability, service access, and long‑term durability.
- Recommend improvements that go beyond like‑for‑like replacement, including operational adjustments, controls optimization, and system reconfiguration.
- Prepare and seal engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents that meet current codes and reflect best‑in‑class engineering standards.
Project Delivery & Client Engagement
- Oversee engineering efforts across diverse project types, from office buildings to mission‑critical facilities such as labs, hospitals, manufacturing plants, and data centers.
- Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, and controls teams to ensure integrated, cohesive project outcomes.
- Support business development by participating in client meetings, offering technical insight, and helping shape solution strategies.
- Stay informed on emerging HVAC technologies, energy standards, and industry trends to ensure designs remain forward‑thinking and resilient.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 6+ years of experience in HVAC system design, preferably within commercial retrofit or mechanical infrastructure environments
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Solid understanding of mechanical, HVAC, and energy codes
