About the Program Communications High School, a Monmouth County Vocational Career Academy, is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking educator to join our school community as the founding teacher of our anticipated Interactive Media & Game Design CTE program. Building upon our existing Computer Science and Technology coursework, this position will lead the expansion and design of a new program pathway that integrates UI/UX design, programming, and game design — preparing students for high-demand careers at the intersection of technology and creativity.
About the School Communications High School (CHS) stands out as New Jersey's sole full-time, four-year Career Academy dedicated exclusively to communication and media arts. Located in Wall Township, this specialized academy offers a rigorous academic curriculum at the honors level, focusing intensively on fields such as Film, Journalism and Publishing, Commercial Art, Computer Programming, TV Broadcasting, and Audio Production. By fostering strong partnerships with the community, industry experts, and higher education institutions, CHS ensures that students not only prepare for college but also thrive in their future careers. Through hands-on learning with industry-standard tools and technologies, students at CHS gain valuable experiences and develop portfolios that distinguish them in this competitive and rapidly changing industry.
Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Teacher of Interactive Media and Game Design, located in Wall Township, NJ. Responsibilities include developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, teaching interactive media concepts, fostering student creativity, and guiding students in the design and development of games and computer programming. The role requires maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues to enhance the learning environment and achieve educational objectives.
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a New Jersey teaching certificate with one or more of the following endorsements:
- Interactive Media — Code #4150 or Computer Science Technology — Code #4148 Accepted credential types: Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE/CE with Advanced Standing), or demonstrated academic/professional qualifications with willingness to pursue Alternate Route certification.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Lesson Planning and creating dynamic educational experiences
- Proficiency in Education methodologies and training practices
- Strong Communication and Teaching skills to engage students effectively
- Knowledge or experience in interactive media and game design concepts is highly preferred
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit diverse learning needs
- Ability to build upon and enhance established program frameworks with design informed by industry trends and technological advancements.
