Position Overview

If you thrive in hands-on roles and are passionate about contributing to the U.S. Navy and naval shipbuilding projects, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a Senior Marine Welder to join our dedicated team responsible for supporting U.S. Navy Ships through equipment and C5ISR system installations in Norfolk, Virginia.

You will be instrumental in fabricating and assembling various electromechanical and electronic components while adhering to safety best practices. Your expertise will ensure that critical work is accomplished safely on U.S. Naval Ships, a crucial part of our mission to support our Military.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and repair metal components using heavy machinery that generates high heat, melting and shaping metal as needed.
  • Review and interpret blueprints to guide assembly processes.
  • Cut metal to required dimensions for specific tasks.
  • Smooth metal edges to eliminate imperfections.
  • Navigate shipyard environments, including climbing stairs and working in tight spaces, while lifting up to 50 pounds and performing a range of physical activities throughout your shift.
  • Possibly train junior personnel on operating machinery and testing equipment.

Qualifications for Success

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of shipboard welding experience is preferred.
  • Ability to access shipyards, complete background checks, and pass drug screenings.
  • Successful completion of specific Serco welding procedures within the first month of employment for continued job eligibility.
  • Possession of personal welding tools and capability to pass a company weld test.
  • Qualification to wear a respirator and adherence to safety protocols during shifts.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA standards and practices related to electrical repairs, fabrication, and installation is advantageous.
  • A strong focus on safety is critical.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Chesapeake, VA.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • A current DoD Secret Clearance.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
