Are you ready to push your limits and make a significant impact in the world of finance?
At Coinbase, we are on a mission to enhance economic freedom globally. This is a colossal and ambitious endeavor that requires our utmost dedication as we build the next-generation onchain platform for the future of the global financial system.
To realize this vision, we are searching for a dedicated candidate who is passionate about our mission and believes in the transformative power of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. We are looking for someone who aspires to leave a lasting legacy, thrives in challenging environments alongside exceptional colleagues, and actively seeks constructive feedback for continuous improvement. If you are eager to tackle complex problems head-on, this is the place for you.
Our work culture is dynamic and may not be suitable for everyone. However, if you are looking to shape the future alongside talented individuals who share high expectations, we welcome you to join us.
While many roles at Coinbase embrace remote-first practices, we value in-person collaboration and require attendance at various team and company-wide offsites throughout the year for stronger connections and alignment.
Data Science is vital to Coinbase's product strategies and decision-making. We collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to influence our strategic direction and gain deeper insights into our users. By leveraging our expertise in experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling, we generate significant insights that drive the company’s success.
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Institutional team. In this role, you will be instrumental in laying the groundwork for Coinbase's Institutional business, conducting in-depth analyses on fee structures, enhancing existing frameworks related to Prime Broker Trading and Financing offerings, and contributing to initiatives like Custody, Web3, and Staking to assist institutions in their DeFi journeys, along with other exciting and impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth analyses on complex and ambiguous problems to uncover insights and recommendations that drive team decision-making.
- Own a wide array of data and metrics, ensuring clear logging and compelling data visualizations.
- Lead code reviews, share your SQL and Python expertise, and develop well-structured ETL processes.
- Maintain a high standard of statistical rigor within your team, ensuring that experiments and causal analyses instill confidence among stakeholders.
What We Look For
- A BA/BS degree in a quantitative discipline (such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computer Science) with over 5 years of relevant experience or a PhD with 3+ years of experience.
- Proven track record in leading impactful data science projects that address uncertain problem areas.
- Ability to influence stakeholders by transforming data insights into engaging narratives.
- Hands-on experience applying complex modeling frameworks to real-world business scenarios.
- Professional proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Experience in developing digital products within an iterative framework.
- Exemplification of our core cultural values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.
- Ability to responsibly utilize generative AI tools and technologies, adapting practices as tools evolve to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
