Job description

Looking for an experienced electrical engineer with proven EE design record in support of new product development projects and upgrades to customer installed base. The qualified candidate should be able to resolve a wide range of technical challenges with diverse scopes using data-driven analysis. The individual should be able to create test plans and use them to test new designs and retrofits to establish usability, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, service and other functions including global sites. The position is in Morristown, NJ, and reports to the Sr. Manager of the electrical engineering function.

Qualifications

  • BA in Electrical Engineering/Electronics
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Hands-on engineer with good electromechanical skills
  • Versed in SolidWorks Electrical (SWE) 2Dand 3D (OrCAD, Matlab, Labview – a plus) including:
  • Experience in creating and managing schematics in SWE
  • Experience with SWE macros and automation
  • Experience in SWE 3D for wire / cable routing and harness design – a plus
  • Experience converting schematics from other formats - a plus
  • Design experience with basic electronics circuits, grounding and shielding practices
  • Experience with industrial controls, preferably Semiconductor manufacturing and automation equipment
  • Experience with applicable standards – CE, Semi S2/S8, UL, F47, …etc.
  • Specify electrical/electronic components, including Digital I/O, data acquisition equipment, sensors, wiring, and connectors
  • Identify and interact with vendors for outsourcing of subcomponent manufacturing
  • Interface with customers to resolve technical issues and address field escalations

Responsibilities

Develop electrical and control systems product specifications, including but not limited to:

  • Interlocks and other safety circuit design
  • ESD resistant designs
  • Generate BOMs automatically for purchasing / manufacturing
  • Create custom reports for design tracking, design rule checking and quality control
  • Design with compliance with applicable standards, e.g. IEC, ETL, CE, NFPA, SEMI standards etc.
  • Design, build, test and document oven retrofit kits
  • Design and build test fixtures for engineering and service department
  • Build and test product improvements on in-house ovens
  • Pre-check retrofit kits before shipping to customers
  • Generate detailed test reports
  • Generate new P/Ns in system, release and generate ECN’s
  • Generate various engineering documentation as needed
  • Engineering support for customers and Heller personnel
  • Maintains contact with all organization functions especially engineering & manufacturing
  • SolidWorks Electrical duties:
  • Create Electrical Drawing Schematics – using SolidWorks Electrical
  • Create and manage SWE macros
  • Work with automation and macros to create different schematics options for a given product
  • Create and maintain part libraries, including custom and pre-defined symbols
  • Create custom symbols with circuitry / connections
  • Define wires and cables with color code / labels
  • Create and maintain wire libraries
  • Create manufacturer part number libraries and BOM generation

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

15% travel including domestic and international trips to factory, vendor and customer sites up to 1to 2 weeks
