About the role

As a Data Engineer – GCP and Looker, you will make an impact by designing and implementing scalable, cloud‑based data solutions that power analytics, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. You will be a valued member of our data engineering team and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders across the business, including analytics, product, and engineering teams.

In this role, you will

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures using Looker and BigQuery to support business intelligence needs within the Transportation & Logistics domain.
  • Develop and maintain optimized data models to enhance data accessibility, performance, and usability.
  • Lead integration efforts to onboard new data sources while ensuring data consistency and seamless data flow across systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Provide technical guidance and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.

Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Atlanta, Georgia. What you need to have to be considered

  • 10–12 years of experience in data engineering, with strong knowledge of data architecture principles and best practices.
  • Expertise in Looker and BigQuery, with a proven track record of successfully delivering end‑to‑end data solutions.
  • Strong domain experience in Transportation & Logistics, with an understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience optimizing complex data workflows to reduce latency and improve reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assessments of existing data systems and recommend effective improvements.
  • Hands-on experience facilitating training sessions or workshops related to data tools and engineering best practices.
  • Understanding of data governance, security protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends related to data engineering and cloud analytics.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $ 120,000 - $ 145,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
