Senior Project Engineer

Our client, a division of a global multi-billion diverse manufacturer, is seeking a Technical Project Manager for their Steel Processing Products division located outside of Youngstown, OH.

This person will manage technical aspects of projects being the main point of contact internally and externally.

Candidates should have experience with steel processing equipment such as pickling lines, galvanizing lines, coils, heaters, furnaces, etc.

Responsible for all technical aspects during execution of a project including coordination of engineering activities, conceptualization, management of interfaces, monitoring of customers and suppliers, coordination with internal and external specialists, etc. With the main objective of achieving the contractually agreed performances while respecting deadlines and Engineering budget.

Duties

• Technical management of the project from project acknowledgment until the final acceptance of the installation, aiming to optimize the technical results specified in the contract, manage the Engineering budget and optimize design to costs as well as set up a project team and develop skills for the entity and the Group by sharing the experience acquired during the execution of the project.
• Maintains contact with the client regarding all technical aspects to achieve complete customer satisfaction.
• Coordinates and plans the tasks assigned to each contributor with the project manager.
• Coordinates and manages the technical team (designers, specialist engineers, etc.).
• Coordinates engineering subcontractors and ensures technical coordination with consortium partners.
• Creates the engineering schedule and updates it related to the order, including the required resources.
• Creates and updates the work details, identifying changes.
• Coordinates the engineering carried out by specialist engineers.
• Directs and coordinates the work of the designers assigned to the project.
• Verifies that the designs meet the expressed needs in terms of performance, reliability,

safety, maintainability, and ergonomics.

• Approves technical documents.
• Ensures the distribution of all technical documents to all relevant contributors. Updates the Engineering document issue plan required during execution of the project.
• Responds to technical change orders and non-conformity reports created during manufacturing, erection and commissioning of the project.
• Initiatesdesign reviews, particularly in the event of changes to what was initially planned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical project management, preferred with a focus on steel mill equipment projects or related heavy industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of steel mill or related heavy industry equipment
• Process knowledge of steel processing lines is a plus but not required.
