Senior Software Engineer - Machine Learning Leader

Summary

Meta is on the lookout for experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join our dynamic engineering team. If you have a proven track record in tackling various classification and optimization challenges—such as payment fraud detection, click-through rate forecasting, search relevance, text/sentiment analysis, recommendation systems, or spam filters—we want to hear from you. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to solve intriguing and large-scale social data and predictive challenges faced on the web.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical vision and objectives of the team to enhance organizational efficiency.
• Communicate complex systems and features clearly and effectively.
• Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to identify and foster new technologies.
• Collaborate closely with organizational leaders to elevate the team's performance.
• Spot and advocate for fresh opportunities within the organization, ensuring they're prioritized appropriately.
• Gather, analyze, and synthesize requirements while creating a strategic feature roadmap.
• Design and implement highly scalable classifiers and tools using advanced machine learning techniques.
• Adapt and refine standard machine learning algorithms to take full advantage of contemporary parallel processing environments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience leading significant projects with industry-wide implications.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate across various functions to deliver effective solutions.
• Experience in mentoring and influencing engineers throughout the organization.
• Strong history of developing multi-year strategic roadmaps that align short-term projects with long-term goals.
• Track record of spearheading major cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• At least 12 years of programming experience in languages such as Python, C++, Java, or R.
• A minimum of 8 years of specialization in machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, data mining, or artificial intelligence.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in launching products that reach millions of users or developing new product lines.
• Familiarity with technologies like Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, and related big data frameworks.
• Expertise in fields such as machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, data mining, or AI.

Compensation

$219,000/year to $301,000/year plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
