Job Summary of Retail Store Manager

As a Retail Store Manager at Circle K, you will oversee daily store operations while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining Company standards. You will lead, train, schedule, and develop store employees to ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment. This role is responsible for managing sales performance, controlling expenses, and safeguarding company assets. You will also build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and the local community.

Qualifications of Retail Store Manager

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in retail sales preferred.
  • Experience to perform the essential duties, responsibilities and working in the conditions described below.
  • Ability to supervise and train for the use of equipment, tools and materials listed in the Customer Service Representative (CSR) and Assistant Site Manager (ASM) job description.
  • Ability to use computer, or acquire those skills necessary to use a computer at the site, which includes analysis of reports, inventory control, cash control, counseling notices, etc.
  • A valid driver's license and adequate transportation to/from bank and corporate management meetings.
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by his/her supervisor.

  • Host periodic meetings to foster continuous communication between all site staff and the Market Manager.
  • Assess and create bespoke action strategies to meet the needs of the site and accomplish the desired objectives.
  • Handle the organization and upkeep of all site files and manuals.
  • Conduct supervision of store employees to ensure that all reports are completed accurately and according to deadlines.
  • Manage and supervise store personnel to uphold standards of merchandise stocking, visually appealing displays, and precise pricing implementation.
  • Confirm that all required employment-related posters and signs are displayed in a visible and accessible location for the benefit of all employees.
  • Assess the daily sales and expense details to formulate strategies that will lead to increased sales and improved net profits.
  • Forecast and manage the financial aspects of profit and loss lines in budgeting, while also understanding and sustaining the margins of merchandise.
  • Track and document the flow of all funds received and disbursed.
  • Undertake additional financial analysis essential for improving sales performance and net profits.

Working Conditions of Retail Store Manager

  • Although the job is mainly indoors, there will be instances where outdoor work, such as clearing parking lots and managing gas pumps, is necessary.
  • Supervise or manage store employees in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer, where they may experience occasional cold temperature extremes during their tasks.
  • Be intermittently exposed to noises.
  • Accomplish tasks with a low level of direction and supervision.
  • Function effectively in the roles of manager, supervisor, and leader continuously.
