ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Summary/Objective

The Compliance Analyst works with the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department and operational management teams to drive company growth and ensure business is conducted in a manner that meets or exceeds compliance with regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions

  • Manage assigned projects and tasks supporting the EHS Department.
  • Prepare and/or monitor regulatory reports including but not limited to MOSH, MSHA, EPA, MDE, and DEQ. Prepare and generate other reports and statistical data as needed.
  • Tracking discharge monitoring
  • Coordinating sampling schedules
  • Obtain permits as needed
  • Manage existing permits and approvals for all operational facilities.
  • Communicate and/or meet with regulatory agencies to ensure the company meets or exceeds the requirements of compliance.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks to include: answering phones, greeting visitors, sorting department mail, calendar management, preparing letters of correspondence, invoice management, file and document management.
  • Prepare and process claims and reports while acting as liaison between insurance companies, doctor’s offices, customers/general public, and company personnel.
  • Property and Accident claims
  • Environmental issues and claims
  • Provide support in acquiring new property for mining and/or development, including special exceptions and permitting through the various jurisdictions, full engineering and delivery of entitled parcel for use.
  • Review and interpret land permits, land use regulations, zoning and other federal and state land use regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • assist with and volunteer at company-sponsored events

Non-Essential Functions

  • Support the Land Management Department as needed.
  • Fill in as needed for colleagues.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Work Environment

  • Work time will be indoors/office and occasionally outdoors/field.
  • Rare exposure to dust, fumes/offensive smells, and chemicals (fuel, concrete) while in the field.
  • Noise level varies from low to loud depending on location, i.e., office to plant, respectively.

Physical Demands

  • Lift a maximum weight of 30 lbs., carry between 5-30 lbs., push/pull between 5-30 lbs., reach overhead, and reach away from body.
  • Walk, stand, sit, kneel, squat, and climb between 1 to 8 hours a day, varying depending on the schedule of each day.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 5-years’ experience in a similar skilled position.
  • Experience in urban development or related field (preferred)
  • Experience in zoning and land use ordinance (preferred)
  • Experience with regulators, permitting, environmental operations

Special Skills

  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Simple accounting or construction-related math.
  • Ability to learn how to use Google Earth, Merlin online, imagery programs, and Adobe Microsoft Project.
  • Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Knowledge of governmental agencies and regulations (MSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Certifications

  • None required

Industry Related Experience or Skills

  • Basic knowledge of government regulations regarding land use and permitting (preferred).

Education Required: High School

Preferred Education: College/Undergrad

Bilingual in Spanish Preferred: Yes (preferred not required)
